Why employers use us

Independent apprenticeship advice. Experienced. On your side.

CTP Group is Karl Rogers' business. Karl spent 25 years inside colleges and training organisations running apprenticeships, employer engagement and work placements. He started CTP because employers kept asking him for straight advice. That is still the whole idea.

Independent

We do not deliver the training ourselves. We choose the right route and the right provider for you from a vetted stable, and we will tell you straight if an apprenticeship is not the right answer.

Free advice, no obligation

Information, advice and guidance cost nothing, with no obligation to use us afterwards. There is no charge for our work in arranging an apprenticeship. Online courses, workshops and a full recruitment service are priced per item and agreed up front.

A team, not a salesperson

Former college principal. Apprenticeship director. Recruitment specialist. L&D specialist. Compliance and data specialist. Over 100 years of apprenticeship and training experience between us, and you get all of it.

We do the work

Eligibility checks, funding, incentives, the apprenticeship service account, employer liability forms, enrolment paperwork. We take the work and the time out of training.

Quality you can see

Providers vetted on Ofsted grade and achievement rates. A monthly check-in with every apprentice, a monthly quality check on the provider, and a monthly written report to you.

Any sector, anywhere in the UK

Care, hospitality, early years, engineering, office, digital, retail, sport and more. Level 2 to Level 7. Existing staff qualify and there is no upper age limit.

The four things we want you to say afterwards

"That was easier than expected."

"They really know their stuff."

"They genuinely cared."

"I wouldn't use anyone else."

What we are not
  • Not a training provider. We do not deliver apprenticeships ourselves, so our advice is not tied to one provider's catalogue.
  • Not an expensive recruitment agency. Apprenticeship recruitment is free. Anything else is priced up front.
  • Not a hard sell. Start with a conversation. Use one part of what we do, or all of it.
  • Not just for the young. Apprenticeships run from Level 2 to Level 7 and most of ours are existing staff.
How it works

How we arrange an apprenticeship, step by step.

This is the order things happen in. You stay in control at every step and nothing is signed until you say so.

  1. A conversation

Thirty minutes, on Teams or in person. What your business needs, who is in the team, what is coming up. No pitch.

  2. Free workforce review

We look at roles, skills gaps, who is due to progress and who you need to hire. We map the funded routes against real people.

  3. Funding and incentives checked

What the government will pay for, which cash payments you qualify for, whether shared levy is available. Per candidate, not in general.

  4. The right provider chosen

From our vetted stable, matched on sector, delivery model, quality and start dates. You meet them before anything is agreed.

  5. Paperwork done

Apprenticeship service account, eligibility, employer liability, enrolment forms. We prepare it so the provider only has to confirm.

  6. Managed every month

Check-in with each apprentice, quality check on the provider, written report to you. Right through to end point assessment.

What we do

Training, recruitment, consultancy and leadership. One group.

Four parts, one team. Most employers start with one and end up using three.

AI skills for every business

AI apprenticeships for every department, not just the managers.

You do not need an IT team to get real value from AI. You need ordinary people who know how to use it on their own work. Our Level 4 AI and Automation Practitioner programme teaches exactly that, to people in any job, in any sector, from a first job to years of experience. It is not an IT course, and it is not only for managers.

  • Every department. Admin, customer service, sales, finance, HR, operations, engineering, care, hospitality and more. If a job has repeat tasks, AI can help with it.
  • More than one certificate from one programme. The Level 4 apprenticeship, three recognised AI qualifications inside it, and a management award on top for people who lead others.
  • 8, 12 or 18 months, live online, starts every month. Each learner picks the pace. Remote, in person or blended.
  • Existing staff qualify. No upper age limit. From a first job to a director, and everyone in between.
  • Funded. Government pays 100% of the training for apprentices aged 16 to 24 where you do not pay the levy, or your levy funds have run out. We check every other case for you.

What it can change, job by job

Each person starts from their own job. These are the kinds of things people learn to do.

Admin and office

Draft letters, minutes and reports quickly. Automate filing, reminders and routine emails.

Customer service

Answer common questions faster and more consistently. Sort enquiries so nothing gets missed.

Sales and marketing

Research prospects, draft campaigns and posts, and keep every follow up on time.

Finance and accounts

Cut repeat data entry, check figures faster and produce clear summaries.

HR and people

Draft adverts and policies, answer common staff questions and tidy up onboarding.

Operations and logistics

Automate routine reports, plan stock and rotas, and spot problems early.

Engineering and manufacturing

Write work instructions and quality records faster, and make sense of production and supplier data.

Care, hospitality and retail

Speed up records, bookings and orders so more time goes to customers and the people in your care. Data protection is built in.

Owners and managers

See where AI pays off, set safe rules for the team and lead the change with confidence.

How it works in your business

1. Map the workPeople look at their own tasks and find what is slow, repeated or easy to get wrong.
2. Pick the right toolThey choose from the tools your business already uses, such as Microsoft or Google.
3. Automate the dull partsThey build simple automations that do the repeat work in the background.
4. Keep it safeData protection, accuracy and good judgement are part of every step.

Pick the route that matches the person

The first seven routes sit on the same Level 4 standard. The core route suits any role and needs no management award. The others add a recognised management or specialist qualification for people who lead others, at the provider's own cost. That matters more than it used to: the general management apprenticeships lost their funding in September 2026, so this is now the funded way to give a manager a management qualification. The apprenticeship still has to fit the person's actual job, which is why we match the route to the role first. The last two routes are separate standards at Level 3 and Level 6.

Core route

AI and Automation for Every Role

The main Level 4 programme for anyone in any job. Three recognised AI qualifications inside it. No management award needed.

CMI Level 3

AI for Team Leaders

First line managers and people stepping up for the first time. CMI Level 3 in Management and Leadership.

CMI Level 5

AI for Operations Leaders

Middle managers running a function. CMI Level 5 Award in Management and Leadership, managing change.

CMI Level 5

AI for Coaching Professionals

Managers who develop other people. CMI Level 5 Award in Professional Coaching Practice, EMCC aligned.

CMI Level 7

AI for Senior Leaders

Directors and heads of function. CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership, included at no extra cost and open to any age. A Level 7 qualification carried by a Level 4 apprenticeship, so the Level 7 age rule does not apply.

City & Guilds Level 5

AI and Leadership for Managers

Work based delivery. City & Guilds Level 5 Award in Operational Leadership and Management Skills alongside the apprenticeship. 12 to 14 months.

Specialist editions

HR and L&D, Marketing, Finance

Employer groups can have an edition built around their function, with tool stacks to match (Microsoft, Google or Claude).

Data

Data-Driven Team Leader

Level 3 Data Technician with a CMI Level 3 team leading award alongside. Excel, SQL and Power BI for the people who run the reports.

Level 6

AI and Machine Learning Fellowship

Machine Learning Engineer, degree level, for developers and data scientists building AI systems.

Short units for leaders

  • AI Strategy and Opportunity (AU0009)
  • AI Adoption, Procurement and Governance (AU0010)
  • AI Delivery and Organisational Transformation (AU0011)
Why this matters now

Which management apprenticeships lost funding in September 2026?

From 1 September 2026 the government withdrew funding for new starts on Team Leader (L3), Operations Manager (L5), Coaching Professional (L5) and Chartered Manager (L6). Since January 2026, Level 7 funding has been limited to younger learners. There is now no funded general management apprenticeship below Level 7 in England.

The AI route with a CMI award is the answer most employers choose. People Professional (L5) and L&D Consultant Business Partner (L5) remain funded for HR and training roles, and the Level 6 service manager route carries a CMI Level 7 award for senior managers.

Level 6 service manager

Level 6 Service Manager: a degree level apprenticeship for the people who change how a service runs.

Built on the Level 6 Service Designer apprenticeship, this is for senior managers who lead service improvement, organisational change and transformation. It teaches people to analyse complex problems, understand what users and stakeholders actually need, and apply service design thinking to deliver measurable improvement.

What makes it stand out is the extra qualification. A CMI Level 7 management award is added alongside the Level 6 apprenticeship by the delivery partner. The award sits at masters level, but it is not a Level 7 apprenticeship, so the Level 7 funding age rule does not get in the way.

  • Around 18 months in total, including the end point assessment, built around a senior manager's week
  • Live online workshops with tutors who have done the job
  • One to one tutor support throughout
  • CMI Level 7 management award alongside the apprenticeship
  • Six themes: user research, mapping the service, prototyping and testing, co-design, influence and communication, delivery and change
The standard
Level 6

Service Designer, ST0894, approved for delivery on Skills England. Equal to a bachelor's degree. Skills England gives a typical duration of 24 months; our delivery partner runs it in around 18 months including assessment. Funding band funded through the Growth and Skills Levy for eligible employers.

Who it is for
  • Heads of service, operations and transformation leads
  • Managers redesigning customer, resident or patient journeys
  • Improvement and change professionals in councils, NHS trusts, charities and businesses
  • Senior managers who want a CMI Level 7 award without a full Level 7 apprenticeship

Typical job titles on the standard: service designer, experience designer, human centred designer.

Funding and incentives, 2026

What apprenticeship funding can employers get in 2026?

Most employers are entitled to more than they think. The rules changed in 2026 and a lot of what employers were told last year is now wrong. This is the short version. We check the exact figures for your business and each candidate, free, before you commit to anything.

  • Training funded in full for apprentices aged 16 to 24. For employers who do not pay the levy, and for levy payers whose account has run out, the government pays 100% of training and assessment up to the funding band. No upper age limit on who can do an apprenticeship.
  • Apprentices aged 25 and over. A contribution towards training may apply depending on your levy position. We show you the exact figure in conversation and on the calculator.
  • Up to £6,000 in employer payments for an eligible new starter at a non-levy employer: the Youth Jobs Grant, the hiring payment and the young apprentice payment can stack. Each has its own conditions, and the Youth Jobs Grant only applies to someone recruited through Universal Credit, so we check per person before you hire.
  • No employer National Insurance on apprentices under 25 earning below the apprentice upper secondary threshold.
  • Shared levy. For the right cohort we can introduce you to larger employers who transfer unspent levy, which can cover the employer contribution. We check the transfer rules on every case.
  • Short apprenticeship units. The Growth and Skills Levy now funds shorter units for existing staff aged 19 and over, including the AI leadership units.
  • Levy funds expire sooner. Unspent levy now expires after 12 months instead of 24. If you pay the levy, use it or lose it.

Figures above are for England. Funding rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we work across all four nations.

Quick check

What does the government pay towards training?

Government pays 100% of the training. You pay nothing towards training and assessment, up to the funding band. We then check cash incentives for the person.
All apprenticeships

Apprenticeships by sector: the routes we arrange most.

110 routes below, checked against Skills England on 15 October 2026. Every one is approved for delivery. Where a route has an age rule on government funding, the card says so. Durations are the typical time on programme; end point assessment follows. Our full searchable directory holds 141 standards across 19 sectors.

Withdrawn from funding in September 2026, and what to use instead

Sixteen standards lost government funding for new starts from 1 September 2026. Anyone already on them is funded to completion, and they can still be bought privately. These are the ones employers ask about.

CTP Talent

Apprenticeship recruitment that understands the funding.

Most recruiters find you a person. We find you the right person and tell you what they are worth in funding before you make an offer.

  • Free for apprenticeship vacancies. We advertise, screen, check eligibility and incentives, arrange interviews and support onboarding. No charge to you.
  • Full recruitment service. For roles outside apprenticeships, a small fee agreed up front. Never a percentage surprise at the end.
  • Reach. Vacancies on our jobs page, shared with colleges, a LinkedIn audience of more than 10,000, and our Candidate of the Week showcase.
  • Pre-checked candidates. Right to work, residency, prior learning and incentive eligibility pre-checked before you see a CV. You keep your own statutory right to work check.
CTP Advisory

Workforce planning and a managed training service, without the headcount.

For businesses that do not have an L&D function, or have one that is stretched, we run it with you. Use one part or all of it.

  • Workforce and skills review. Who is in the team, who should progress, where the gaps are, what the funded routes are.
  • Funding and levy strategy. What your levy or co-investment position really is, how to use shared levy, what expires when.
  • Managed training service. We run the whole training function for a monthly fee: provider management, apprentice check-ins, quality checks, reporting to the board.
  • Incentive eligibility checks. Per candidate, in writing, before you hire.
  • Set up and paperwork. Apprenticeship service account, PAYE link, employer liability, enrolment, end point assessment planning.
  • Councils, schools and training organisations. Partnership programmes, careers sessions for Year 10 and 11, next steps advice for parents, cohort programmes for residents, and support for training companies looking to register as an apprenticeship provider.
